How We Can Help
U-Fix It BikeWorks & Youth Art Studio
BikeWorks and the Art studio are two outreach programs available to all youth in the Cowichan Valley. Our mission is to help build a more caring community by engaging with youth while promoting cycling, fitness and environmental awareness. We provide space, tools, parts and adult role models in order to help young people fix bikes. We create opportunities for them to earn their own set of wheels by engaging in creative activities and helping provide affordable cycling services to the community.
In the Youth Art Studio, we strive to stimulate the imagination and build creative skills for the present and the future. Youth have the opportunity to gain a sense of independence and accomplishment while participating in a variety of creative group and individual art and craft projects.
We invite youth to learn about bike repair, practice hands on skills with donated bikes while working their way towards their own recycled cycle to take home. Young people are welcome to explore practical and creative skills while participating in community projects.
We work to make the shops:
- A place where young people belong
- A place where young people can succeed
- A place where young people can make a difference
